THE ROMANS

WELCOME TO FALSE HEAVEN

Red Landing College, Beijing. Kyle Rogan, six-foot tall, muscular and male, administers to himself three doses of serum with an injection. He was in a restroom.

The serum was a hormone controller. He was suffering from a hormone-induced character illness. The name of the illness was CRAZIORRA. Craziorra was commonly seen among vampires and werewolves between the ages of puberty and 27. He was a Werewolf. The illness happened to 1 out of 150 vampires or werewolves.

Craziorra caused its victims to have wild, crazy cravings for sex and violence. It also caused mood swings.

Kyle had almost gotten into a fight prior to this moment. He was not angered by his supposed opponent; he just wanted to fight the person. Fortunately, he was able to control himself and get out of the situation.

His head calmed down after a while. He began to cry. He wondered when the illness would stop. Because of the illness, he had lost most of his friends. He also lost his girlfriend. They saw him as a freak.

To him, the craziorra was severe because other victims only took one shot of serum for a week. But for him, he takes three shots every day.

”Pathetic! ” a voice scoffed behind him.

He was startled by the voice. He looked behind him and found that the restroom door he thought was closed was open and a man was standing at the door.

”Please allow me a few moments; I will finish quickly, ” Kyle said to the stranger. He reached for the door.

The stranger again scoffed, ”pathetic. ”

The stranger stopped him from getting to the door handle.

Kyle thought that the stranger wanted him to vacate immediately. So, he packed his things into his back pack and tried to leave, but the stranger pushed him back into the rest room.

Kyle said to the stranger, ”what else do you want? Look, Im sorry for annoying you. My day hasn been going well. ”

The stranger replied, ”I have been watching you. How long do you think you can hold the craziorra before it ruins you? - ”.

Kyle interrupted the strangers speech with an alarmed shush gesture. He whispered, with tears in his voice, ”please, I don want anyone to know that I have the craziorra. ”

The stranger continued, ”but how long do you think you can hold it? You are just 21 and you have been suffering from this illness for 2 years ”.

”Unfortunately, you have a severe case and I don think the medication to suppress your case is available. And it will take at least another six years for the sickness to finish its course in your body. ”

”I came to invite you to join the Roman programme. Thats a place that Im sure will cure your illness. So, is it a yes or no ”.

An idea popped into Kyles mind. He examined the stranger before him. The stranger was masculine and looked weirdly fit for any task. He bet the stranger could take on a heavyweight level boxer. It dawned on him that the stranger standing before him was a Roman. He absentmindedly gasped in awe.

”Yes or no, ” the strangers voice cut him off in his stupor.

He said to the stranger, ”Can you give me a while to think about the offer? ”

The stranger acted like he didn hear Kyle, ”yes or no? ”

Kyle cowardly answered, ”Yes. ”

”See you at the base tomorrow by six, ” the stranger said as he left the toilet section, tucking a flight ticket into Kyles right hand.

Kyles classes for the day had finished by 3:00pm. Kyle didn go to his hostel room to stay. He left the campus and then took a bus to go home.

He arrived home and then told his parents about his decision to join the Roman programme. His parents were aware that he suffered from craziorra. His mother was sad and in tears after hearing his decision. She didn try to stop him.

His parents supported his decision. Kyle had two younger siblings, and they were both in high school. The school they attended was a boarding school, so Kyle couldn say bye to them. His parents promised to pass along his farewell message to his siblings.

Kyle was aware that joining the Roman programme was a risk. One could die in the training. There was rumoured to be grievous danger in False Heaven. It was rumoured that there was a war in that reality.

But Kyle didn buy into that rumour either. He was in the ideology camp that thought that the possible dangers in that reality would be the incompatibility of the body to the climate or atmosphere of that reality. Or the allergic reaction of the body to the foreign nutrients of that reality.

Or a mistake during training that could cost a life prehaps lives, body parts, or cause injuries.

Whatever danger it was that lay in False heaven, Kyle was going there to experience it himself.
