Storm of the abyss

The new cell Seth was in also had no windows, but this time there were some torches on the other side of the bars and the guards were always present.

After a few days, a guard came to the cell and talked while he read a sheet. ”Prisoner 92 and Prisoner 16 ”

Seth watched as a muscular man stood on the other side of the room and approached the guard.

He knew that if he didn stand up, he was going to be in trouble so he too slowly got up and walked towards the guard.

The guard put handcuffs on both and the cell bags before closing it. Three other guards watched closely, keeping the other prisoners from making trouble.

Although they were only 3, two of them were baptized. And all the prisoners were normal people. Nobody was willing to get into trouble and surely end up dead since he had seen how one of the prisoners went crazy and tried to attack a guard. They knocked him out and took him out of the cell, never to be seen again.

Although they were never told, it was easy to assume that the prisoner was no longer among the living.

The guard put a bag over the head of Seth and the prisoner and led them into another room.

Upon entering the room, the guard took the bag from both of their heads and left them alone. Shortly after the double doors of the room opened and several men entered pushing a container and leaving where Seth entered.

Ugh Seth covered his nose as he smelled a putrid odor coming from the container, but it was covered by a blanket, so he didn know what was inside.

”Prisoner 92, come here ” a man at the door called the prisoner and he walked out of the room. The man closed the door without even addressing Seth.

I spend about half an hour where Seth was alone and silent in the empty room with all the doors closed.

Soon the sound of a door opening snapped Seth out of his thoughts, and he looked up at the open door.

Another contender came out of the room and passed Seth as he covered his nose again. This time the blanket was on the wrong way so Seth could see inside.

Thats… Inside the container was the corpse of the prisoner who had come with him, along with other corpses.

Seth had already known that his life was over once he was caught in the warehouse a couple of months ago. But seeing the condition of the prisoners body in the container gave him goosebumps.

While Seth was lost in thought about him, the same man from before appeared at the door and this time called out to him.

”Prisoner 16. ” Seth looked at the man at the door for a few seconds before taking a deep breath and walking towards him.

Once inside the other room, the man closed the door behind him and gave Seth a couple of directions.

”Take a weapon from that shelf and a leather armor ” the man pointed to the places where the shelf was and an open cabinet where the leather armor could be seen.

Seth walked over to the closet and selected an armor that would fit him.

At least clean them Seth saw how each armor had cuts and traces of dried blood. It was obvious that the armors had already been used before.

Once the armor was on, he headed towards the weapons rack where there were two other guards on each side.

Seth stared at the shelf for a while in silence.

Ive only used long knives, but Ive only had small fights before the warehouse, I don think the knife is of much use to me now

Remembering the state of the prisoners body, Seth knew that whatever was waiting for him was far from calm.

Ill take this Seth took a normal sword and a knife, which he kept in a slot that had the leather armor on the side of his thigh.

The guards looked at him silently but said nothing.

Seth was curious to see if he could take more than one weapon but seeing the little reaction from the guards, he took it as confirmation and turned to look at the man from earlier.

”Okay, go to that room and wait. ” The man pointed to another door and Seth calmly walked into the other room.

Why so many rooms? Damn this labyrinth

The man closed the door and Seth found himself alone again in the room, this room was quite small and only had one chair. Where only 4 people could fit tightly together.

Seth waited a few minutes when he began to hear noises on the other side of the door. Although the place looked old, Seth could tell that all the rooms were equipped with technology that was hidden. All the rooms he had been in were soundproofed, so he knew that to be able to hear something in a soundproofed room from the other side, something was making a lot of noise.

Suddenly, the door opened, and Seth could see what was on the other side.

The first thing he noticed was a large arena. Seth walked forward looking around him, when he left the room, he could feel how thousands of eyes were fixed on him.

He looked up to the walls of the arena and saw thousands of people with masks hiding their faces from him and wearing all kinds of clothing.

Suits, casual clothes, armor, they all looked at Seth while talking loudly making noise all over the place.

A coliseum, its a **ing underground coliseum

At the top of the stone ceiling, you could see a huge crystal that illuminated the whole place giving it a magical touch. But this did not make him feel any better.

Seth had read about coliseums in books about ancient civilizations, places where champions fought each other to the death. Normally the champions were slaves of the wealthy people of the time.

He also knew that other races had coliseums, but he had never seen them with his own eyes, he had only heard it as rumors in some bars.

”Ladies and gentlemen! In front of you we have two A+ rated rookies! ” A male voice announced through a speaker so everyone could hear. When he revealed the information all the onlookers murmured among themselves.

”An A+? Thats pretty high. ”

”Yes, the last one that looked like this was a complete show ”

”Who will you vote for? ”

”I don know, they both look weak ”

Although Seth couldn hear them and had no idea what they were talking about, he knew that he was about to fight to the death against some other rookie, just like him.
