The pace in town was slow.
Most of the younger ones work out of town and only the elderlies remained home and rarely did they come out for dinner.

It was still early in time and there were barely any one inside the restaurant.
The only other customers were seated at a table quite far away from them.

Gu Nian dragged Luo Xiu with her and pulled a rope hanging down adeptly.

A chime came from behind the drapes.

Not too long later, a clean-looking middle-aged woman with her hair pulled behind her lifted the drape and walked out.

Seeing the newly-arrived customers, she smiled.
She greeted Gu Nian with her not-so-standard mandarin mixed with some regional dialect.

“Miss Xiao Nian, you came again? Eh? And you brought a friend with you today?”

“Yes, Boss Lady.
Your breakfast is too, too, too, too mazing.
I only wish I can bring my beddings and crash here.”

“Oh, you are very welcomed to do so.”

Gu Nian and the Boss Lady chatted for a little bit before she turned and introduced their specialty breakfast to Luo Xiu.
She only placed the order after running it by him.

After the Boss Lady had returned to the kitchen again, Luo Xiu asked, “You have been here many times?”

Gu Nian turned around.
“Yeah.”

Luo Xiu, “The studio is quite far from here, at least 1.5 – 2 hours each way by public transportation… you came all the way here for breakfast?”

“Sort of.
That makes me a foodie, right?”

Luo Xiu was speechless.

Gu Nian’s face was taut but finally busted out laughing.
“I was here to scout.
I started planning since a week ago, how I want to plan your birthday if I can celebrate it with you – I have tried all of the breakfast places in town and this one is my favorite!”

Luo Xiu, “Scouting out for today?”

“Uh huh!”

“Aren’t you worried that I might have other plans?”

“Oh yes, I worried about that a lot.
But then I thought to myself afterward, what if you will agree to celebrate this day with me? Then everything would be worthwhile.”
