In front of the stone steps.

Gu Nian had just stepped foot on the patio when she felt a very forceful look lock onto her.
She looked up reflexively and met the cold look coming from Zhuo Yixuan.

Gu Nian looked away expressionlessly.

“!”

Zhuo Yixuan’s fist clenched tight.
That little screenwriter had ignored her once again!

Before Zhuo Yixuan could snap, the worker from the production team was already making an announcement through their loudspeakers that they had prepared with them.
“Our 8 guests are here and can take their seats –– please, the four screenwriters can sit to my left-hand side, and the four actors to my right.”

Gu Nian was disappointed that she was being separated from Luo Xiu as soon as they had arrived at the patio.
She had wanted to experience being a nice mother and peeling shrimp or other shellfish for her precious son or just putting food into his bowl.
She needed that to recalibrate her mom-fan trend that had been deviating from its rightful path.

Perhaps Luo Xiu had noticed Gu Nian’s little dismay.
She had just lowered her head for 2 seconds when she heard a light chuckle.
“I want to sit across from you.
Is that okay?”

“!”

Gu Nian’s eyes lit up and she lifted her head instantly.
“Of course!”

“You pick first then.”

“Then let’s sit there…… heh?”

Gu Nian was surprised when she saw the slender silhouette next to the long table.

The other party happened to look over at Gu Nian as well and, meeting Gu Nian’s look, the girl nodded at the two of them and gave them a friendly smile.

Gu Nian recollected herself and was alarmed.
“Why is Zong Shiyi here too?”

Luo Xiu paused a little and asked in a tender voice, “Do you not like her?”

“I like her subjectively, but she targeted you and refused to have those scenes with you during the filming of Demons, remember?” For once, Gu Nian had distinguishable expressions on her face as she frowned, “I kinda hold grudges.”

Luo Xiu chuckled softly.

Upon hearing that, Gu Nian turned as though disappointed in him.
She said to him softly, “How can you be chuckling after what she has done to you? Don’t you hold any grudges at all?”

“There aren’t any grudges to hold onto,” said Luo Xiu frankly.

Gu Nian turned back around and sighed.
“It’s not necessarily a good thing for you to be so kind in this circle.
You might just get eaten alive.”

“……”

The smile in Luo Xiu’s eyes deepened.
But it was quickly suppressed and hidden away.

Gu Nian could hear him saying in a light and gentle voice, “It’s alright.
You are here with me, no?”

Gu Nian thought about it some and nodded in full agreement.
“Okay.
I shall protect you!”

Luo Xiu, “Shall we head over together?”

“Mmm!”

The food selection at the first gathering arranged by the production team was quite impressive.
Unfortunately, with the exception of Gu Nian, none of the other members of the screenwriter team made up of 3 women and 1 man seemed to have much of an appetite.
The actor team was made up of 2 men and 2 women.
Other than Luo Xiu, the other three were somewhat known actors and, probably for the sake of caloric intake control, they ate about the amount of what a cat would eat.

Luo Xiu didn’t eat too much either.
Gu Nian knew that that was because of his bad stomach.
He ate very little at night to avoid his stomach having to overwork.

Gu Nian stared at the plate that her precious son had barely touched, feeling worried.

Now that his contract with Dingke was over and he no longer had an agent and an assistant, did that mean he had nobody to prepare his night tea for him?

She had learned a few recipes to make soups that were good for the stomach, but they had very limited resources on the island and they might not even allow her to use the kitchen……

While she was worried about all sort of things, the familiar loudspeaker started again––

“As our 8 guests have already finished their meal.
We will be going over our program and some of the rules before your free networking session.”

It was finally time for what everyone had been waiting for all night long.
