Chapter 18: The First Battle

Wearing the duckbill cap and a peculiar sleeveless cloak, Yu Feng leisurely wandered around.

He quickly found the room of a mutant who seemed to be the next participant in a life-and-death fight.

The room led directly to the arena passage and looked like a prison cell.

At this moment, the door opened, and several strong men threw an emaciated man with protruding bones as if his bones were spreading out from his body, into the room.

Simultaneously, a bucket of water was splashed on his face.

The emaciated man woke up in confusion and, upon realizing where he was, immediately showed a terrified expression.

He shouted hysterically, “You can’t do this! You’re kidnapping me! I’ll sue you in court!”

“Hmph, Mr.
Henry, when you were discovered to be a mutant, you lost any legal rights,” a black muscular man sneered.

“Fight for your life in the arena.
Your bones are tough, and you won’t die so easily.
The harder it is for someone to die, the more money we can earn from them.
Survive well, and maybe in the future, we’ll return your ‘freedom’ to you.”

As he spoke, they were about to lock the door.

However, at that moment, the man’s hand paused as he noticed a small and strange figure appearing before him.

The guy wore a duckbill cap, and half of his face was covered by the collar.

The coat he wore seemed oddly fashioned.

Although his face couldn’t be clearly seen, his figure looked like that of a child no matter how you looked at it.

“Is this the waiting room for the next mutant fight?” the person said.

“Yes, but who are you?” The black muscular man looked somewhat puzzled.

Who was this brat who appeared out of nowhere?

Could he be a relative of the boss?

After all, it’s not easy for ordinary kids to pass through the security outside the backstage waiting room and come over here directly, especially dressed so strangely.

“Very well.”

The person merely nodded slightly.

In the next moment, a flash of light passed by.

Following that, the black muscular man and the gunmen around him, who instinctively reached for their guns, all had their heads tilted, spat blood, and fell to the ground in the blink of an eye, forming a stack like sandbags in the corner of the room.

The emaciated man, who was just shouting hysterically moments ago, stared blankly at the scene before him.

“What… what’s going on?”

“Don’t just stand there.
Run! Do you want to be beaten in the arena?” Yu Feng clapped his small hands and looked at the man.

“Uh… Oh!” The guy finally snapped out of it, gratefully glanced at Yu Feng, then immediately ran away as fast as he could.

Yu Feng watched the man run off, feeling somewhat speechless as he pursed his lips.

He came here for practical combat, so naturally, he hoped for stronger opponents.

However, judging from the current situation…

It seemed like the owner of this underground mutant fighting arena liked to capture mutants who had no combat awareness.

This made Yu Feng feel somewhat frustrated.

Fighting against opponents with no combat awareness wouldn’t greatly enhance his combat abilities.

“Let’s see how it goes.
It’s impossible for everyone to be a pushover.
There will surely be formidable opponents.
The two in the arena just now seemed decent.
If all else fails, I’ll find a higher-quality underground mutant fighting arena,” Yu Feng thought.

While contemplating, he found a place to sit down and curiously played with the handguns he had retrieved from those strong men.

Meanwhile, in the arena…

“Boom!”

The muscular man with bulging muscles suddenly collapsed onto the arena.

His body didn’t move at all, appearing exhausted and half-dead.

It seemed that his stamina had finally given out, and he fell down.

The guy standing in front of him, who was as fat as a meatball, curled his lips and looked very disdainful as he said:

“I heard that your muscle density is extremely high and you have great strength, but why does it feel like tickling when you hit me?”

The muscular man on the ground almost spewed blood in anger upon hearing this.

But there was nothing he could do.

Not only was the other party thick-skinned, and most of his attacks were blocked by layers of fat, but his endurance was also unbelievably high, and his stamina was off the charts.

It was almost as if he would be worn out to death.

Soon, the granite-like muscular man was carried away.

As for the meatball, he wore a victorious look and welcomed the cheers from the audience.

Outside the iron cage, the referee, dressed in a flashy and Halloween-like outfit, couldn’t stop smiling.

The meatball was their underground mutant fighting arena’s signature.
Winning this round meant they would earn a lot of money!

To be honest, with the underground mutant fighting arenas gaining popularity in recent years, the competition has become increasingly fierce.

There are often clashes between different venues due to competition.

However, the bosses of the fighting arenas later came up with a compromise: they let the powerhouses from different arenas battle each other!

Whoever wins will obtain the management rights of the opponent’s arena and be ready to accept challenges at any time, similar to challenging another arena.

However, there’s a difference.
Once you fail in challenging another arena, the losses are significant.
Not only do you lose the fight, but you also lose your arena, resulting in a substantial financial loss.

The audience thought the recent fight was just a battle between two powerful mutants, but in reality, it was a competition between two fighting arenas.

Of course, not every fight is like this.
Most of the time, in order to increase the audience’s excitement and encourage them to donate money, the fighting arenas would dispatch or capture individuals with peculiar abilities to participate.

They could be either highly resilient or exceptionally skilled at evasion, enhancing the entertainment value of the fights.

And without exception, the fate of these mutants who were specifically used to increase the entertainment value was to be brutally beaten and battered.

The audience didn’t care who won or lost.

What they cared about was the bloodshed!

It was the kind of sadistic pleasure that comes from watching a cat catch a mouse!

These fights were not only for earning money from the audience but also to provide some entertainment and relaxation for the real starfighters, allowing them to recover, warm up, and be ready to face the next powerhouse from a challenging arena.

“Hmm… Is the guy who will give the meatball a ‘relaxing’ time for the next battle ready? Very well.
In that case, let him enter the stage as soon as possible!”

The referee glanced at the list in his hand, a cruel gleam in his eyes.

Immediately, he picked up the microphone and loudly announced to the audience:

“Alright! Let’s bid farewell to this muscular man who unfortunately lost!”

“Next up! Let’s warmly welcome the next challenger!”

“I’m confident that you’ll all love this challenger.
To me, he may look peculiar and fragile, but I can sense a different kind of immense power emanating from him!”

“So, who is he?”

“Ladies and gentlemen! Please welcome our next challenger, his name is…”

With the referee’s voice rising, the cheers from the audience grew louder and louder.

Wouch!

A beam of light illuminated the dark corner of the arena.

Following that, a figure emerged slowly.

Moving steadily toward the center of the arena.

But as soon as that figure stepped onto the arena, the whole place fell silent.

Even the referee’s voice abruptly stopped, and he almost dropped the microphone.

Because in the arena, the figure was an extremely tiny person, almost like a child at first glance.
Compared to the enormous meatball in the arena, the small figure was almost negligible!
