Psychotic

It was a pleasant day for a walk, so Eli decided to take one. His mother was happy to hear he was actually interested in going around town, and he found that he surprisingly liked it a little better here.

He wondered if it was because of him back then seeing high school as something which was a big deal. His time there wasn great, and it made his whole world seem bleak and depressing. Nobody wanted to speak more than a few words with him, and those who did just didn bother to talk to him again.

Now, however, it was different.

Eli wasn much of an outdoorsy person so he had a reason to be walking out like this.

It was boring inside of the house with just his parents, and there was literally nothing to do. They had no furniture, his room was too empty for it to feel like home, besides he was running away from setting up the TV even though it might be the only source of entertainment hed be getting for now.

There wasn a plan in mind when he decided to go, but it didn take long for him to fulfil his real goal. He lied to his mother about being interested in looking around the new town, he was actually interested in solidifying a friendship with Ari.

The moment he saw him, he immediately walked over to him and tapped his shoulder for attention. Ari seemed to be in deep thought before that, so when he turned around, he was surprised to see Eli there.

”Hey! ” Eli greeted him excitedly and there was a moment of hesitation before Ari relaxed and smiled at the sudden, but very welcome appearance. ”You seemed a bit distracted there, what were you thinking about? ”

The smile on Aris face waned a little bit. ”About you, actually. ”

It hadn been a lie, Ari was actually thinking of him, but his thoughts weren happy ones. All he could think of what how his mother called omegas trash and how shed make everything harder if Ari decided to pursue this friendship any further.

Maybe it was worth it.

”I was wondering if youd like to get coffee and just talk? ”

Eli tilted his head giving him a playful look. ”You
e not asking me on a date, are you? ”

”I am. ” Ari couldn help but laugh and almost, almost, gave him a playful bump but had to stop himself. Betas and omegas aren supposed to be that comfortable, he had to remember that. ”We
e going on a date as friends. ”

The grin Eli gave him was blinding. ”A friendly date, I never had one of those. I gladly accept. ”

”You never… You never had coffee with friends? ”

It was both shocking and heartbreaking when Eli looked at the ground looking embarrassed as he shook his head. ”I never had a friend after I started high school. ”

”Why? ”

Eli shrugged at him as if the answer was obvious and he uncomfortably looked away. It was not a topic he liked to discussed, and Ari could understand why.

”Because you
e an omega. ” Ari realized feeling like there was so much he needed to process with that bit of info. Why was it such a big deal?

”Pretty much, yeah. ”

As much as he hated it, Ari found himself agreeing with his mother. Living as a beta was very different than living as an omega, and he could clearly feel it already with all the rules of no touching and not being alone with Eli. Ari couldn imagine how it is to live a life so cautious that it stands in the way of forming and maintaining relationships.

”Do you really have to be so cautious? ” He really couldn help but ask.

”Well, yeah. Imagine if we
e alone and I suddenly go into heat. ”

”I can see what you mean, but they
e manageable. ”

Eli nodded his head slowly. ”True, but… I still didn get mine. ”

The look on Aris face was on that amused Eli a little bit. He looked baffled and conflicted as he thought about what Eli had just told him. ”How old are you? ”

This was a question Eli didn expect, but wasn that surprised to hear. ”Eighteen in a few days. ”

That made Ari understand all the precautions Eli was taking because he knew what a mess it would be if he really did get his first heat. It can come any time and is very unpredictable as far as he knows, and Ari wished to be a friend who could extend a helping hand, but he had no idea how.

Still, he didn miss an interesting piece of into and smiled.

”In a few days? When? ”

”Five days from now. ”

Ari could feel the excitement rising in his chest as a flood of ideas started swirling in his mind. There wasn much he could do, but he planned on making Elis birthday a memorable one. According to what Eli said about him not having friends, he definitely celebrated most, if not all, his birthdays alone.

That will stop now because Eli will be taken on his first coffee date and get a cake for his birthday.

”Alright, lets go on our date now. ” Ari grinned grabbing Eli by the arm with the rule of no touching slipping his mind, and if Eli was uncomfortable or surprised by it, he didn say anything.

In fact, just like how it had slipped Aris mind that they shouldn be this close, it had also slipped Elis mind because they were so lost in their own little world. They were both excited for their coffee date, and Eli had felt like he could be himself for the first time with someone.

It felt surreal just sitting there drinking coffee with someone and just talk comfortably. It really was his first time doing that, and the same was true for Ari who never sat down with an omega before.

It was interesting how easily they fell in sync, but it was even more interesting when Eli glanced out of the window in a moment of distraction and couldn stop looking out of it.

He didn even hear Ari try and get his attention because whoa.

Just whoa.

Whoa.

The guy who just passed by their window might have had a sour look on his face, but that was the last thing Eli cared about as he ogled. The guy was exactly his type, a wet dream of his manifesting here in this reality, and he just walked by the window without even glancing his way but Eli didn mind.

He was super fine with just staring.

”Who is that? ” His voice came out breathless making Ari look at him weirdly.

Confused, Ari looked out of the window as well looking for the person Eli asked about before he finally caught sight of him. He couldn help but lean back in his seat feeling a little bit surprised and perturbed at how everything his mother said seemed to happen, yet he still managed to find his voice and answer even when his life felt like it came crashing down.

”Thats Alec Hawthorne. Hes our future alpha. ”

”Thats him? ” Eli watched Alec walk away and let out a shameless whimper when he was finally out of sight. ”I think I am in love. ”

It felt wrong to resent someone so dear to him, but Ari couldn help it. He wondered if it was his mothers words poisoning his thoughts, or if it was the feeling of something good being snatched away from his grasp.

As always.

But no, he shouldn think this way. This was natural. Alec was an alpha, and a very good-looking one at that, there was no surprise in Elis reactions. Even betas would swoon over Alec. Its just the fact that if their attraction was mutual and things developed, it could result in the two leaving him behind, forgotten. He feared that.

But it sucks that he wasn selfish, and it sucks that he just wants to make people happy because he could never be. It just never stops sucking.

”I can introduce you two if you want. ”

”Yes, please, oh my god. ”
