Chapter 7: Must Get Off

The brakes of the bus were so loud that even if Su Qingxing didn’t wake Liu Hai and the others, all of them woke up from their very brief sleep and looked either fearfully or helplessly at the tour bus that reappeared in front of them.

“Squeak.”

The door of the bus opened again, and the paper-doll sitting in the carriage stretched out its right paper sleeve, and waved at Su Qingxing and the others for a long time.

“Hee hee hee hee ……”

Even standing outside the bus, everyone was able to hear the horrifying laughter.

“Don’t bother, it’ll be gone in a while anyway.” Liu Hai propped his head up with a headache, “It will come back no matter where you go, you will return here no matter how far you walk.
You can’t get on this ghost bus and you can’t escape from here, what kind of hellish world is this!”

“It’s better if a ghost rushes over to kill somebody, at least that way laozi would know what the hell we are supposed to do! Fuck them!” Liu Hai was angered to the point of swearing.
He boldly showered the paper-doll sitting on the driver’s seat with foul words.

However, since the passengers inside the bus were all paper figurines, naturally, they could not be angry because of what Liu Hai said.

The car door creaked again, but it did not close immediately.

The driver made up of paper, who had been looking straight ahead, suddenly turned his head.
A particularly gloomy and shrill voice, which was neither male nor female, rang out in the ears of everybody, including Su Qingxing –

“Get off.”

“Get off?” Chen Fangfang was a little surprised, “Did I hear it wrong? He didn’t tell us to get on the bus, but to ‘get off’?”

 “It really did say ‘get off’ the bus.” Old Mr.
Chen also stood aside leaning on his cane, “But all of us have already gotten off the bus?”

That voice rang in everyone’s ears once again, as if it had heard what Chen Xiongbing had said –

“The vehicle is at a stop and a passenger must get off!”

“Get off!”

The last sound was like a booming thunder, causing everyone to cover their ears.
Even Su Qingxing had to cover both ears of Si Si, the little white dog, and take a step back towards the back of the crowd.

Immediately afterwards, a small white leather ball with a cartoon piggy design rolled out of the carriage aisle.

“Thump …… thump ……”

 The leather ball jumped down the bus steps one by one and eventually landed on the ground, jumping a few times before resting at Xu Yun’s feet again.

“Aaaahhhhh! A human head! It’s a human head!”

Although the little leather ball hadn’t changed at all, just resting there peacefully, Xu Yun jumped in fright and instantly pounced on Su Qingxing who was actually quite a distance away from her.

“Help!” Xu Yun lunged straight towards Su Qingxing.

But an accident happened.
Right before Xu Yun could rush into Su Qingxing’s arms, Liu Hai next to her scooped her up.
Liu Hai’s face was barely straight, but unfortunately his gaze was not right, making the whole person look not even the slightest bit righteous.

“Don’t worry, I will protect you.” Liu Hai hugged Xu Yun tightly while his right hand kept probing downwards, the smile on his face growing, “As long as you’re with me, even if Chen Fangfang dies, I’ll still keep you safe.”

“Liu Hai, you ……” Chen Fangfang couldn’t help but widen her eyes, but in the end, she didn’t say anything.

Xu Yun originally wanted to struggle, but after glancing at Su Qingxing who was standing next to her, at the small leather ball on the ground that could turn into a human head at any time, and at the unruly Liu Hai, she finally stopped moving and obediently leaned back in Liu Hai’s arms.

 A cold wind blew through the station.

Su Qingxing watched the ball roll again in Xu Yun’s direction and turn into a pale child’s head under the streetlight.

“Sister, did you see my head?” The head that kept bleeding was lying on the concrete floor of the station, “But I also like your head, why don’t you give it to me?”

“You’re just a decapitated head, how dare you be so arrogant!” Liu Hai seemed intent on putting on a good show in front of Xu Yun, so with a lift of his leg, he kicked that head straight into the grass across the road.

 Calm was restored to the station, but ……

“What does it mean by ‘when the vehicle arrives at the station, a passenger must get off’?” Old Mr.
Chen looked at Liu Hai and Xu Yun, who were hugging each other, and then at Chen Fangfang, who was standing on the side.
Faced with such a situation, even an old and experienced person like him had a headache, so the best way was to change the subject.

“Ah, ah ah!” Su Qingxing also cooperated by pointing to the grass on the other side of the mountain road.
That head seemed to have settled down after being kicked away and didn’t move again.

“When the bus stopped for the first time, I got off with Liu Hai and the others.” Although Chen Fangfang’s tone was soft, her mind was clear and organized, “When the bus stopped for the second time, Su Qingxing and Elder Chen got off.”

A passenger must get off the bus.

It took a while for the bus to stop again and the group all resumed their seats on the benches.

At this moment, there seemed to be only one street light, one station and a group of people who didn’t know where to go.

The bus seemed to be arriving at a slower and slower pace, and after the group had waited for a long time, even Su Qingxing began to feel drowsy.
Putting aside everything but his physical strength, Su Qingxing really was no different from a regular human being.

Noticing that he had started to doze off, the little white dog Si Si, who had been held in Su Qingxing’s arms, lifted its little head and looked at him for a long, long time, as if he couldn’t get enough of it.

After some time, Su Qingxing, who had fallen into a light sleep, was awakened by a light sound.
He opened his eyes and saw Liu Hai helping Xu Yun walk towards the back of the station.
Xu Yun’s movements looked a little reluctant, but in the end she did not struggle.

“That girl is so stupid.” Old Mr.
Chen, who was sitting beside Su Qingxing, seemed to have noticed this even though he didn’t open his eyes, “Liu Hai claims to be a senior, but it’s not like he’s a kung Fu master, nor does he have the superpowers you youngsters like, there’s nothing worth relying on at all.”

Su Qingxing put the little white dog he had been holding in his hands into Old Mr.

“I thought your mission was to observe, but you seem to care a lot about that female singer.” Chen Xiongbing opened his eyes to look at Su Qingxing, “Obviously that girlfriend of Liu Hai’s hasn’t even moved yet.”

Chen Fangfang was still asleep on a bench at the furthest point from Su Qingxing and the others.
It seemed like she hadn’t noticed that both the people around her had disappeared.

“She shouldn’t belong here.” Su Qingxing lowered his voice, but it caused his originally slightly cold voice to soften, “Unlike you, Liu Hai, and Chen Fangfang, she shouldn’t be here, at least not yet.”

“So as the guide, it is my duty to bring the misguided soul back to her original place.” Su Qingxing smiled while petting the little white dog that was looking at him as well, before walking towards where Liu Hai and Xu Yun had disappeared.

There is a legend in the human world that there are two places one can go after death.

One is heaven.

The other is the underworld.

But there are people who belong to neither of these places.

That is, the people who are still alive.

Su Qingxing could not see Xu Yun’s death message from the beginning, and although he found it somewhat unbelievable, the only explanation was that Xu Yun was still alive and had mistakenly entered the Underworld Trials for some equally unbelievable reason!

Su Qingxing had never encountered such a situation before, but he knew that if a living person died in the Underworld Trials, they would immediately perish, never to be reincarnated.

“Aah!!!” Xu Yun pushed Liu Hai straight away in the next second, rolling and crawling away from where Liu Hai and Su Qingxing were situated while using the school blazer Su Qingxing had given her to cover herself, “Liu, Mr.
Liu Hai, I think it’s better to forget about it, okay ……”

“Damn!” The moment he saw Su Qingxing, Liu Hai lifted up his trousers and rushed over, grabbing Su Qingxing by the collar of his shirt, his face fierce as he roared, “Mute, why do you always come to ruin laozi’s mood at the best time?!”

Su Qingxing blinked and tried to make himself look a little more frightened, gesturing at something in panic.

But Chen Fangfang’s voice gave Liu Hai a way out.
He cursed under his breath, leaving behind Su Qingxing and Xu Yun, who was cowering aside, and returned to the direction of the station alone, “Humph, I’ve never seen someone so eager to be a scapegoat!”

Su Qingxing felt that he could basically help that guy Liu Hai book a spot in the 18th level of hell.
Although he was a dedicated and respectful guide who would never reveal himself until the last minute, his occupation wouldn’t stop him from extracting personal revenge or anything.

And Liu Hai had just taken a few steps forward when an unusually cold voice suddenly came into his mind –

“Liu Hai, is it? I remember that name.

“Who, who’s talking?!” Suddenly hearing an unfamiliar voice, Liu Hai looked around in extreme panic, holding that utility knife in his hand and waving it around, but there was no one around except for the wilderness and Su Qingxing and Xu Yun who were not talking at all, “Is it a man or a ghost, come out and show yourself to me!”

Liu Hai, who had nothing to gain, was completely unaware that he had just offended two people in one fell swoop!

Su Qingxing, however, had no idea what Liu Hai was doing, nor did he hear anyone talking.
In the end, he just carried the little white dog Si Si back into his arms.

Thinking of how Si Si, with his tiny body, was trying to protect him just now, Su Qingxing smiled and kissed the little white dog on the forehead, quietly whispering in Si Si’s ear, “Thank you.”

In the past, Su Qingxing had read stories in books about small animals protecting their masters, but he had never thought that those seemingly exaggerated stories would be true, and that even Si Si, whom he had only known for a short time, would be willing to stand up for him.

“Awoo!” Si Si’s eyes turned back to ink-black as if they were glowing, and the next second he actually shrank and rolled in Su Qingxing’s arms, then continued to rub himself against Su Qingxing happily.

Ignoring Xu Yun, who was following behind him, Su Qingxing walked back with Si Si in a happy mood, preferring to tease the little “dog” rather than turn around and communicate with Xu Yun.

Compared to Su Qingxing’s good mood, Liu Hai and Chen Fangfang’s mood was not so relaxed.

The long-lost tour bus reappeared at the end of the road, its lights swinging towards the station where they were standing.

“When the bus stops, there will be passengers getting off.” Liu Hai swallowed hard and stared unblinkingly at the approaching bus, “What will it be this time?”

“Liu Hai, where did you just go?” Chen Fangfang asked casually.
She hadn’t seen Liu Hai when he woke up.

“Don’t you bother!” Liu Hai turned his head and waited for Chen Fangfang, before turning back to continue staring at the travel bus that was close at hand.

Su Qingxing hugged Si Si and stood with elder Chen, watching the familiar paper-dolls return to the station.

But this time things were a little different.

“Look!” Chen Xiongbing raised his walking stick and pointed in the direction of the bus door.

Everyone followed the cane and gasped almost simultaneously, for they saw a “thing” standing near the door of the car, seemingly ready to get out at any moment!

It was a kid in a tracksuit, but ……

It had no head!

Blood was pouring down the severed neck and seeping through the gap in the bus door, leaving a horrible trail of blood on the road ……

Liu Hai’s breathing was getting heavier and his hands were clenched into tight fists, his nails biting into the flesh of his palms.

“Squeak~~”

It was the familiar sound of brakes.

“Squeak~”

It was the familiar sound of the door opening.

“Get on the bus ！！！！！！！” At that moment, Liu Hai suddenly shouted with all his might, “When the door of the bus opens, we won’t be attacked, so we can get in!”

With that, Liu Hai rushed into the bus and even recklessly knocked away the headless ghost!

In the pandemonium, all of them followed Liu Hai one after another into the vehicle in order to avoid the bloody headless ghost.
In such a situation, apart from following Liu Hai’s orders, most people’s minds had already stopped working.

Su Qingxing and Old Man Chen, on the other hand, looked at each other with some surprise in each other’s eyes.

They did not expect Liu Hai to be able to think of such a method at the last minute; it seemed that this guy didn’t live to be a senior completely due to luck.

Astonished as he was, Su Qingxing soon helped Old Mr.
Chen brush past the headless ghost and together they climbed the bus steps, returning to the carriage that Liu Hai and the others had once avoided.

“Hee hee hee hee ……”

The bus full of paper-dolls seemed to be welcoming their return.
