Chapter-2: Scapegoat

In the classroom, which was so dilapidated that it seemed to have been abandoned for a long time, the incandescent lamps began to flicker again.

The wind was blowing violently outside the window, the storm and the blown branches hit the fragile-looking glass window, one after another, as if knocking on several people’s brains, making them annoyed and giving them a headache.

Su Qingxing didn’t ask Bai Gu and the three of them why they had come back to “save” him, he just spoke gratefully as if he had been saved from a certain death, “Although that female ghost looks scary, she did not hurt us, maybe we can really stay here Until dawn.

Although he didn’t know what Bai Gu had encountered after they left the classroom, after Su QingXing looked at the expressions of the three people, he felt that they seemed to care little about what he had just said, still immersed in some kind of fear.

“Have you guys noticed one thing?” Bai Gu was already sitting near Su Qing Xing, holding his forehead.
He seemed very tired at the moment.
“Judging from the height of the windows and trees, this should be the second floor.”

“How is that possible!” Zhang Biao was the first to jump out and retort, “Just now we walked along the stairs for at least ten minutes, how ……”

Su Qingxing watched Bai Gu, Zhang Biao and the woman whose name was not yet known fall silent again at the same time, as if they had begun to sink into some kind of memory again.

It seemed that there really was something more terrible guarding outside the classroom.

Su Qingxing couldn’t help but remember what the half-body girl had just told him— if he left the classroom, he was sure to die! One must look for a chance to survive in the classroom!

Just when Su Qingxing was mulling over these words, he saw Zhang Biao, who was sitting next to him, pound his shoulders and move his upper body from time to time, as if his entire body was uncomfortable.

“Are you okay, big brother?” Su Qingxing blinked when he looked at Zhang Biao, his tone was tinged with concern and he seemed a bit well-behaved1, “Is your shoulder sore?”

“Yes.” Zhang Biao continued rubbing his shoulder, “Maybe I hit it when I fell down the stairs just now, I keep feeling that my shoulder is especially sore and heavy.”

Hearing Zhang Biao’s words, Su Qingxing glanced at Zhang Biao’s shoulder, however, the others didn’t seem to care.

“Well, let’s get to know each other first.” In the flickering light, Su Qingxing saw Bai Gu take a deep breath as he spoke, “Maybe it’s like the boy said, just stay until daylight, everything will pass.”

Hearing himself being mentioned, Su Qingxing nodded and said, “It’s always the daylight2.”

“My name is Bai Gu, and I may be the only one here who understands the situation.” Bai Gu showed a very forced and ugly smile, “You have all read novels, right? Our current situation …… can be explained as crossing over to a world akin to a horror movie, except worse, because I’ve never seen a horror movie this terrible before.”

Su Qingxing sat like a well-behaved student, his exquisite and delicate appearance made people feel very comfortable, but there was a lack of expressions on his face.
He just listened carefully to what Bai Gu said.

From time to time, he also glanced at Zhang Biao who was still rubbing his shoulders beside him.

“The world inside a horror movie?” When Zhang Biao said this, a flash of lightning struck outside the classroom window, and the sound of the torrential rain seemed to be getting louder and louder, “after crossing over, others see one beauty after another, how come the old me only gets to see half the body of the female ghost! Bah! What a rotten luck!”

As he spoke, Zhang Biao rubbed his shoulders while constantly glancing at the beautiful woman standing behind Bai Gu, causing the other party to duck behind Bai Gu again.

“You may not have such good fortune.” Bai Gu took a look at the stormy weather outside, “The place we are in right now is called The World of Endless Terror.”

“The World of Endless Terror?” Su Qingxing repeated the word thoughtfully and looked down, opening his phone again, “This name is a bit interesting.”

Perhaps Su Qingxing’s performance was too calm, and he soon felt the eyes of several people focusing on him.
So the next second, the weak-looking teenager wiped the phone screen, lowered his head and said, “There is no place to charge the phone here.
For me, this is scarier than seeing a ghost.”

“Che, it’s really a young master who doesn’t care about life and death.” After muttering this sentence, Zhang Biao wiped the sweat on his forehead, “Why is it so stuffy.”

“This name was given by someone I used to know.” Bai Gu continued on with a serious expression, “But that person has already died in the last horror world.”

“You’ve experienced many horror worlds like this one?” Su Qingxing put down his phone and looked up at Bai Gu with some curiosity.

“No, this is just the second one I experienced.” Bai Gu shook his head, “I am a wilderness adventure enthusiast.
I went to sleep inside my tent and woke up to find myself in a mountain village with a terrifying legend.
At that time I was accompanied by several people claiming to be seniors who had experienced several horror worlds.”

“What about those people?”

“All dead.” Bai Gu looked at the teenager in front of him and thought he must have grown up in a greenhouse since birth, “The blood on my shirt belongs to them, and I was the only one who escaped.”

“So, you, a pretty boy are very strong?” Zhang Biao folded his arms, attempting to seem imposing, but it felt more like he was emboldening himself, “Those who dare to call themselves a senior seem to be getting stronger and stronger, right?”

“Sorry.” Bai Gu spread his hands, “I just left that mountain village and appeared in this classroom in the blink of an eye.
I didn’t even have a chance to catch my breath, let alone become stronger.”

Ending one world and entering another without any respite.

Everyone seemed to gain some understanding about why those seniors called this place the world of “endless” terror.
No matter how many times you escape, you may only increase your courage and ability to cope, and no one knew what you might experience in the next world.

It was as hopeless as the endless night, the endless corridor, and the never-ending stairs.

Even Su Qingxing fell silent.

“Will we be like this in the future?” The woman sitting next to Bai Gu bowed her head and cried, “Are we going to be trapped here too, never to leave?”

“It won’t be like that.” Su Qingxing, who was sitting across the table, smiled at the woman, “My father always said that I am a lucky star, so we will definitely leave soon.”

“Well, you guys introduce yourselves too.” Bai Gu ignored the woman shedding pearly tears beside him, and continued to look at Zhang Biao and the others.

“My name is Zhang Biao, you can call me Brother Biao or Master Biao, the whole Dragon Lake (Longhu) Street is my territory.
Before I came here, I was going to the next street with my brothers to grab that territory, and I don’t know if we succeeded or not,” Zhang Biao said, showing off his arms covered with tattoos and muscles.

But in the next second, Zhang Biao bent down and couldn’t help but mutter, “Why am I getting more and more tired? Is it because I am sleepy?”

“You may be able to fight, but I guess there’s nothing you can do about ghosts.
I’ve only heard that ghosts are afraid of evil people, but you, a wicked person, seem to be a little afraid of ghosts instead.” Bai Gu shook his head and looked at the teenager across the room again.

“My name is Su Qingxing.”

“Boom!”

Su Qingxing had just introduced himself when a loud thunder came from outside the window, and he almost immediately shrank back, showing a somewhat frightened expression.

“Sure enough, no matter how calm he is, he’s just a child.” Bai Gu did not miss Su Qingxing’s cowering look, and there was some disdain in his eyes, but he comforted him like a big brother, “It’s okay, female ghosts are more frightening than thunder, but didn’t you survive?”

“Hmm.” Su Qingxing nodded, lowering his head to hide his expression, “I’m just an ordinary high school student, I accidentally fell asleep during class, and when I woke up I found myself in this shitty classroom, and thought I had slept for decades.”

“A brat is just a brat.” Zhang Biao’s guts seemed to have recovered a bit.

“My name is Li Juan.” The crying woman wiped her tears, “I just remember that I was shopping with my friends, and when I came back to my senses, I was already here.
Why, why is it me who came here, it’s not fair!”

After the self introduction, the classroom once again fell into silence, with only the flickering incandescent lights, Li Juan’s small sobs, and the sound of the storm outside the window.

After a while, Li Juan’s weak voice suddenly rang out, “Mr.
Bai, what exactly did you see in the mirror at the stairway just now?”

Bai Gu’s face suddenly turned white and was silent for a while before speaking: “Sometimes, not seeing is also a kind of luck.
The former senior said that mirrors can sometimes reflect what ordinary people can’t see.”

“For example, perhaps we think that the companion standing next to us may be human, but in the reflection of the mirror, they may be an evil ghost that seeks our life.” Bai Gu unknowingly lowered his voice, “The corridors that are empty in our eyes may also be full of dead souls staring at us.”

As soon as the words fell, the old classroom was dead silent.

“It’s cold.” After a long time, Li Juan, who was already dressed very thinly, huddled up and tried to pull down the hem of her too-short skirt, “The classroom seems to be getting colder and colder.”

The enclosed classroom seemed to have a chill growing in it, and Su Qingxing also rubbed his hands and exhaled.

But under such circumstances, Zhang Biao, who was sitting beside him, was sweating all over.
His only vest was soaked in sweat, and he was lying on the table as if he was being pressed by a mountain.

“Brother Biao, are you all right?” Su Qingxing said seemingly casually, “It was so strange since the beginning, first the shoulder pain, and then the feeling of being crushed into breathlessness, it’s almost like ……”

“It’s like someone has always been riding on your shoulders.”

The second Su Qingxing finished speaking, Bai Gu and Li Juan both opened their eyes wide and Zhang Biao stared at him with bloodshot eyes, constantly gasping for breath.
A whimper came from the depths of his throat.

“Don’t look at Zhang Biao, stare at the window.” Bai Gu lowered his voice, “The glass in the dead of night should have an effect similar to a mirror.”

Everyone, including Zhang Biao, looked at the classroom window that was being beaten frantically by the storm and tree branches.

Su Qingxing saw his own reflection, flickering with the incandescent light, appearing and disappearing in the mirror.
Then came the figures of Bai Gu and Li Juan, and finally the figure of Zhang Biao lying on his desk ……

It was just that, on Zhang Biao’s back lay the female ghost with only half a body, the bloody half of her face stretched in a hideous smile.

“Ahhhhhhh! Bai Gu, save me ahhhhhhhhhh!” Zhang Biao screamed in fear, his eyes almost bulging out of their sockets, “Get the fuck out of here, I’ve killed people, do you know that!”

No matter how Zhang Biao shouted, the female ghost lying on his back was like a lingering “lover”, wrapping tighter and tighter around his neck, pressing half her head against Zhang Biao’s cheek.

“Hee hee hee hee ……”

The horrifying laughter appeared out of thin air inside the classroom.

Su Qingxing just looked at his reflection in the window, and then immediately afterwards he saw Bai Gu’s shadowy reflection move.

Bai Gu pulled out a saber from the pocket hidden by the camouflage uniform and mercilessly…… stabbed into the exposed thigh of Li Juan who was standing beside him!

“Ahhhhh! Bai Gu, what are you doing ah ah ah!” Li Juan did not dare to imagine what the wound on her leg looked like, and the sharp pain that came with it made her almost lose consciousness and fall to the ground.

“The senior I met said that if you want to free someone who is haunted by a ghost, the best way is to find a scapegoat.” Bai Gu’s originally fairly straight face suddenly took on a slightly grim expression, “No matter what, ghosts are always attracted to blood.”

Su Qingxing watched Bai Gu drag a helpless Li Juan up from her chair and throw her directly behind Zhang Biao, and her thigh that had once made Zhang Biao unable to move his eyes, had a hideous, deep wound on it.
The blood coming out of it kept flowing all the way along the cracks in the classroom floor ……

“Ooo ……” the image of the female ghost lying on top of Zhang Biao flickered in the incandescent light, no longer an influence that could only be seen through the glass, and actually appeared in front of Su Qingxing and the others.

The female ghost glanced in the direction of Su Qingxing imperceptibly, and then threw herself on Li Juan’s body as if she was pouncing on delicious food.
Her body wrapped tightly around Li Juan, whose screams grew more and more piercing, interspersed with the female ghost’s playful laughter.

“Bai Gu! You scum!!! You devil!!!”

Half of the ghost’s long hair entangled Li Juan like seaweed, and the sharp scream became weaker and weaker in an instant, and it seemed that it would disappear completely at any time.

For these ghosts and monsters, human fear was perhaps the best supplement.

“Go!” Bai Gu didn’t wait for Zhang Biao to come back to his senses, dragging him with one hand and Su Qingxing with the other, directly kicking open the classroom door and rushing out into the pitch black corridor!

After his body turned lighter, Zhang Biao no longer had any doubts.
He followed Bai Gu all the way, roaring out after a while “Pretty boy, you are too fucking loyal! In order to save me, you even sacrificed such a big beauty!”

“Bah!” Bai Gu said without looking back, “I saw that you still have some use, so I left you alive.
That kind of woman who can only cry and cry harder, the only purpose of her life is to be made into a scapegoat!”

Su Qingxing lowered his head and followed behind Bai Gu, whispering in a voice that no one else could hear, “Dead soul number MS7458, Li Juan, time of death May 9, 2018.
She was pushed into a fast lane by her best friend and died in a car accident.
Jealous, deceitful, used drugs on her best friend and caused her miscarriage.
The deceased soul has been wiped out in the underworld trial.”

“What are you talking about?” Bai Gu just barely heard Su Qingxing’s mutters.

“It’s nothing, Mr.
Bai.” Su Qingxing followed Bai Gu’s pace all the way and the voice of the teenager with a slightly inferior physique was a little breathless, “You escaped from the last horror world, was it because…”

“Heh heh, that’s right.” Bai Gu’s laughter in the dark corridor sounded even more horrifying than that female ghost’s playful laughter, “I let all those senior people die for me! Just like Li Juan died for Zhang Biao! Su Qingxing, why do you think I saved you guys?”

“If we don’t manage to escape together in the end, then I’ll have to trouble you to die for me!”
