Dear Sweetheart…

Retro Romance -1

Part 1

The teacher ended the lecture and swiftly took her notes from the desk. Adjusting her spectacles on her nose, she glared at her students.

Even though they seemed to be sitting quietly, the old woman knew that those little brats were eagerly waiting for her to leave the class.

It was the year 1990. Women in this era had much more freedom than before. They now had a proper right to education. Moreover, it has been a few years since the success of the Womens Suffrage Movement, hence, they had equal voting rights like men.

The beginning of October, England was beautifully covered under the layers of fallen leaves. The wind was chilly but inviting. And amongst every other thing laid a Girls School in a small town.

As soon as the teacher left, the girls squealed and immediately rushed to the window, to see the view they longed for every day.

A group of handsome boys was standing near the street of their school. It was their everyday routine, watching those lads and admiring them who always lurked around here and there.

While the girls were expected to be righteous and well-behaved. Society was a lot easier for the men. They could laugh, and play freely.

Irrespective of their habits and nature, they were considered gentlemen as long as they had a promising glorious future, courtesy of their father.

The men in the group too belong to big, rich families. One was the son of a leading industrialist while the other was the little prince of the Mayors household and such.

But nonetheless, there was a reason why they chose to stand under that specific window.

Hearing the giggles and squealing, one of them from the group looked up, making the hearts of those young women run a mile. He released a disappointed sigh when he couldn see a particular face, for whom he practically waited like a road Romeo every day.

”Our handsome Theo looks disappointed today. I wonder why ? ”.

One of the girls, Jane, said in a mocking tone to the girl sitting on the first bench with a pencil in her hand. A book was open but her focus remained on the window and Janes word.

”Maybe he is waiting to see someone else. ” Lia chimed in.

Listening to their mockery, the girl couldn help but smile shyly. Oh, how desperately she wanted to go to the window and see him herself, but then her timid nature never gave her enough strength.

Theodore Knight was the only heir of an English industrialist. A prince born with a golden spoon. But like a little pup, Theo has been chasing the love of his life, Lilian for the past few months.
