Black Lilies

3 - Delusive Verity

{Lilys woken up to an entirely incomprehensible scenario. Is this her new reality?}

_

”Is she really still napping? ” A female voice sounded inside the sarcoline-painted bedroom.

”She does know her weddings a day away right? ”

The blonde-haired female stood beside the bed, gazing disapprovingly at her sleeping friend.

”I swear seeing her sleeping so soundly makes me want to join her. ” A soft almost melodic male voice spoke, causing the blonde girl to surprisingly turn her head.

Her eyes stopped at the door and she subconsciously sighed in relief.

”Remy, how long have you been standing there? ” She asked the light brown curly-haired young man, who was casually leaning against the lapis-colored mahogany door.

”Uhm I literally came in here with you. ” He answered, his voice barely masking the annoyance he felt.

Seeing the confused look on her face, he sighed and leaned further back onto the closed door, his eyes wandering to the sliding windows opposite him.

”God Shelly, you were right… ” Sighed Remy, not trying to mask his annoyance anymore.

The blonde girls confused frown deepened extensively. Shelly?

She couldve sworn she had heard that name before.

”You asked me where Lily was I told you she was still asleep and then I walked you up here… ” He clarified all in one breath, clearly drained from all the wedding preparations, and the unnecessarily long conversation that was ensuing.

”Whyd you do that though? ” She raised an elegantly trimmed brow at him.

”Well… ” He paused for a second,

”I guess I just didn have anything else better to do. ” Remy crossed his arms, a sign that he was not up for answering any more questions, though he guessed she probably didn get that and would most likely—

”Whos Shelly? I feel like Ive heard that name somewhere be— ”

”It doesn matter! Gosh! You
e lucky Im too exhausted to walk all the way down to the guestroom, else… ” Fatigue took over causing Remys body tiredly slid down to the ground.

Remy lightly glared at the young woman seated on the comfortable-looking bed. He was almost sure she had completely forgotten why she was in the room in the first place.

You should really pick your friends better Lily. He thought to himself.

A small groan sounded in the room, causing both of them to turn their heads.

”Finally! Shes waking up. ”

Lily groggily opened her tired eyes, only to close them again in incredulity.

Had it all been a dream? She wondered as her eyes opened a second time, glancing around the room. She sat up in bed, panic gripping her body tightly, like an octopus grabbing onto its prey.

”Uhm, hello!? ” She heard a pleasantly familiar voice call.

”Girl you look like youve seen a ghost… ”

It was her friend Everlee. She glanced further back and saw Remy who had an apprehensive look on his face.

”E— Eve? ” Lily asked, staring strangely at the person seated on her bed. Her voice came out low and unstable, causing both Eve and Remy— who had now risen to his feet— to frown simultaneously.

”Yeah…Its me. Your one and only bestie. ” Eve commented a bit enthusiastically, causing Kai an inward eye roll.

”But… I… how Im I— ” Lily tried to speak but Kai cut her off.

”Im gonna go phone the family doctor… I think somethings very wrong. ” He said and was about to walk out the door when—

”WAIT! No! Please don ! Im fine!! ” She suddenly cried out causing them both to give her bewildered looks.

Hearing the word doctor had triggered her fight or flight instincts. She had ignored the mind-numbing headache that had been brought about by her loudness. Even if this was some sort of nightmare, she couldn allow her already traumatized self to encounter her parents murder right now…

Remy gazed carefully at her, clearly skeptical, though he had seen the despondent look on her face. He was perplexed by her behavior but decided to keep it to himself at the moment.

”Are you sure El? You don look so g— ”

”I said Im fine Remy! Please. ” Lily insisted slumping back on the bed, tightly shutting her eyes. She knew Kai wouldn insist, but she also knew that he sensed something was off and would not let her be until she told him what.

”I think its just the pre-wedding jitters. After all, you
e getting married on Monday! How exciting! ” Eve said, seemingly more elated than the bride-to-be herself.

Eve, however, had missed the look of sheer terror that appeared on Lilys fave after she heard those words.

Remy on the other hand didn miss a single detail. He had been observing her very closely after she had almost jumped out of bed to stop him from calling the doctor, who ironically was her fiancee.

”Wedding… ” The words echoed out from her full lips.

As if sensing the tension, Remy walked over to the right side of the bed and sat next to Lily. He didn say a word but wore this serious look on his face, which Lily subtly noticed. He only wore such a look when he was about to give her the questioning of a lifetime.

”Yes, girl. I can believe you
e finally leaving the single ladies club! I honestly thought I would be the first to leave but… ” Eve proceeded to speak but Lilys focus at that moment was the wedding between her and the person who—

Suddenly, her bedroom door flung open.

”Lily! I can believe you
e still in bed! ” A female voice called from the slightly ajar door, from which a light-brown-haired young woman peaked, her eyes shining with a bit of irritation.

Seeing her at the door, Eve brightened up.

”Oh, hello there Valerie. Lily just woke up and— ”

Valerie gave her an uninterested look, before completely ignoring her and turning her attention to her boss.

”Your wedding is literally on Monday and you haven even picked your wedding dress yet— ”

”ENOUGH! ” A slightly inflamed Lily shouted.

”Can you all just please stop with the wedding talk already! ”

The two ladies eyes widened in surprise, as they stared at a once-upon-a-time delighted Lily.

They had perplexed expressions written on their faces, all except for Remy of course. He had somewhat foreseen that reaction from her.

”I want to be alone now… Please. ” Lily said glancing at her two friends. She knew it was impractical to ask Remy to leave once he took on that demeanor.

Though reluctant at first, Eve stood up, giving her friend a supportive smile.

”Just call if you need anything, okay? ” She said and Lily nodded wordlessly, an obliged look on her face.

Valerie said nothing and just turned to leave the room.

Lily knew shed have a lot of apologizing to do later.

Lily sank back into bed and she could feel Remy gazing into her soul.

”Are you ready to tell me whats going on with you flower? ”
