BEAUTIFUL, INSIDE AND OUT

Mama Zimbi is such a good person. She is just like a mother to her. She was best friends with her mother. Talking of her mother, tears began to fill her eyes. Its been two year since her mothers death. She was just fifteen years when her mother died of pneumonia .

Thinking of her mother, her heart felt like it was being pricked by thousands of needles. She missed her lovely mama so much.

She got out of bed to take a shower. Getting to the bathroom, she realised how big it was. It was much spacious compared to the one back at home. She has always known the Zimbis to be rich but has never been to their home before. It was a peaceful home.

Coming out of the bathroom, she saw a set of clothes on her bed. She guessed it was mama Zimbi that brought them there. Lydia knew her character more than anyone else ,maybe with the exception of Maria? She got dressed and was combing her afro – hair when she heard a knock on the door. She

opened the door to see alady dressed in a uniform ,probably one of the maid workers. ”Miss Lydia, dinner is ready ” said the maid worker. ”Oh,thank you, I will be there soon ” replied Lydia.

After tieing her curly black hair, making it flow on her back, she gently went downstairs to meet Maria a d her mother who were already seated at the dinning hall dinner. Come!,come!. Sit beside me . Saying this, mama Zimbi pulled her lightly so that she could sit beside her.

”Thank you Mrs Zimbi ”.

”why address me that way when you can simply call me mom? ”

Lydia smiled slightly.

”Maria will die out of jealousy if I call you mom ”

How about I call you aunt? They all laughed her small joke except Lydia, who was smiling.

”okay my dear, what ever you call will be accepted by me. Enough with the talking, here, have some food you look thin eat more. ” Before Lydia could realise, her plate has turned into a heap of mountain.

Seeing her friend feeling helpless, Maria then tried to help her out by distracting her mothers attention. ”Hey look who is glit and glam in her outfit. ”

”Sorry, I didn ask before putting on these clothes. ”

”Don worry I sent it to your room ”. Mama Zimbi chipped in.

”I don want you to use anything related to your unreasonable aunt. ”

”Thank you aunt. ”

”Now eat your food before it turns cold. ” Throughout the dinner, only Maria and Mama Zimbi could be heard chatting while Lydia would only nod and smile here and there. After dinner Lydia excused herself saying she was tired.

”Dear, go and have some rest. ”

”Good night Lee. ” Maria wished her a good night.

”Good night. ” She said and made her way back to her room for the night .
